About

I’m an artist from Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire currently based in Bournemouth. My work pulls on narrative threads of home, urban legends, disenfranchised people and mental health. I’ve become extremely interested in conversational work and how ideas, thoughts and feelings can be constructed around them to build a narrative for my work; it has become an integral part of my practice. I research a lot into working class issues, family relationships, identity and mental health, they are what fuel the language and ideas of my art practice.

I have been experimenting and playing with video, looking at digital and analogue technology and responding to this material in a contemporary context, in a world that is now heavily situated in social media and an endless intangible stream of social media consumption. Specifically, Hi-8 tape, the texture creates a nostalgia which I love to explore, especially with the current pop culture obsession of nostalgia and throwbacks. The material becomes a time capsule of a time gone by and using it in a modern context is so exciting for me.
